At Regina Dominican, students have the opportunity to interact with dynamic leaders and subject matter experts through the Leadership Institute’s Speaker Series.

Our speakers act as real-world professors in the classroom and as influencers at our all-school assemblies. Each speaker helps Regina Dominican students to see the world with a more discerning eye and to develop themselves as leaders.

John Brennan

John Brennan, Vanguard, Former CEO; University of Notre Dame, Chairman Board of Trustees

John J. Brennan is chairman emeritus and senior advisor of Vanguard. Mr. Brennan joined Vanguard in July 1982. He was elected president in 1989, served as chief executive officer from 1996 to 2008, and chairman of the board from 1998 to 2009.

Mr. Brennan is a director of General Electric Company, LPL Financial, Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, and American Express Company; chairman of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA); chairman of the board of trustees of the University of Notre Dame; a founding trustee of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST); chairman of Vanguard Charitable; and a member of the Pennsylvania Early Learning Investment Commission.

Mr. Brennan graduated from Dartmouth College and earned a Master’s degree in business administration from the Harvard Business School. He has received honorary degrees from Curry College and Drexel University.

Donna Markham

Sister Donna Markham O.P. ’64, PhD/ABPP, President & CEO, Catholic Charities

Sister Donna Markham, the first female president to lead Catholic Charities USA in the organization’s 105-year history, has a doctorate in clinical psychology and a proven track record in organizational leadership. She is seated as CCUSA’s 10th president.

Markham is an Adrian Dominican Sister and board-certified clinical psychologist. In her previous position for Mercy Health, she led the transformation of the delivery of behavioral healthcare services across seven major geographic regions. Prior to joining Mercy Health, Markham served 10 years as the president of the Southdown Institute in Ontario, Canada and as Prioress of the Adrian Dominican Congregation. She also served for eight years as a member of CCUSA’s board of trustees, two of which as board chair.

Markham received her doctorate from the University of Detroit and was named a fellow of the American Association of Clinical Psychologists. She was awarded the prestigious Harold S. Bernard Training Award from the American Group Psychotherapy Association in February 2014.

Jo Ann Rooney, JD, LLM, EdD, is the 24th president of Loyola University Chicago and the first lay president in the University’s history. She joined Loyola with a diverse background that includes various positions in higher education, law, business, healthcare and public service. Prior to Loyola University, Dr. Rooney was managing director at Huron Consulting Group in Chicago with responsibility for developing strategies to advance Huron Healthcare’s Federal Government Healthcare Sector consulting practice.
