Our Track & Field team finished eighth out of 15 competitive teams in the rain at Richmond-Burton on Wednesday, May 10. The Panthers were led by junior jumper, Katie Clancy, who qualified for State by finishing second in the High Jump. This is the first time in six years that a Panther has qualified in an individual event for State.
Sophomore standout, Caitlin Ward, just narrowly lost out on a State bid by finishing third to last year’s State Champion in the the 400M Dash. Also, placing in an individual event was co-captain and veteran leader senior Colette Cooney. Colette ran a very strategic race passing 5 or 6 runners in the last 100M making her impressive sixth place finish even more exciting. Two Panther Relays medaled, the Relay Team of seniors Gracie Simon, Emily Zalinski, and Kylie Moore along with junior Helena Walo finished fourth in 4x800M Relay, while the always competitive 4x400M Relay Team of Colette Cooney, Regina Trejo, Emily Zalinski, and Caitlin Ward earned a sixth place finish. Congratulations to all!
