Our operations, engineering, and students involved with Green Paws Club and environmental studies are all excited to announce they are continuing to develop the current recycling program here at Regina.
We have partnered with Advanced Disposal here in Wilmette to set up “Single Stream Recycling.”
This means that all recyclables, including office paper, newspaper, cardboard, cans, and plastic bottles can all be recycled in the same bin. This simplicity will allow for a greater diversion of recyclable waste to be recycled.
As well, we have adjusted our trash receptacles behind Regina Dominican, to accommodate two waste streams, one for recycling and one for garbage. This opened up valuable parking spots for athletes and staff using the parking behind the school, with the removal of several dumpsters.
We rolled out the new program this week in celebration of Earth Week!
Here’s a picture of a few stacks of the new bins being placed throughout the classrooms as well to support the program. Thank you to Mr. LaVert for pushing this along.
