First Ever “Find Your Civic Voice Day” held at Regina
Wednesday, October 10 was our first “Find Your Civic Voice Day” for our senior class. The day began with hearing from Laura Fallsgraff, documentary filmmaker and producer of the film, The 39th. Following the film and hearing from Laura the students attended an expo where they met with leaders from the following organizations (click each organization name to learn more): Open Lands Project, The One Foundation, Little Brothers of the Poor – Friends of the Elderly, Catholic Charities, Wilmette League of Women Voters and Mrs. Pikes Contemporary Issues class also had a table at the Expo as part of the “Girl Rising” project they have adopted this semester.
Following the expo, the students then participated in a Q&A session with alumnae that have held jobs in law and polling. The alumnae on the panel were Nicole Jaconetty ’10 from Research Global Strategy Group, Michelle Gemskie ’87 from Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, Anita DeCarlo ’91 from Ankin Law Office LLC, and Kathryn Ciesla’89 from the Offices of Kathryn Ciesla.
