Patty Carroll was recently awarded the grand prize for contemporary photography by Don’t Take Pictures, a photography magazine published in print twice-yearly (March, September). The magazine celebrates the creativity involved with the making of photographs. Her photograph; Domestic Demise! is part of her ongoing project, “Anonymous Women,” which consists of a 4-part series of studio installations made for the camera, addressing women and their complicated relationships with domesticity.
Patty Carroll is a photographer and educator. She was Adjunct Full Professor Photography at SAIC (School of the Art Institute of Chicago) until 2014, after teaching photography in various universities since 1972. Education includes BFA, University of Illinois, and MS in Photography, Institute of Design, IIT. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including China, Italy, and the UK in both solo and group exhibitions.
