President Schuster officially presented Katherine with the Young Alumnae Medal at the Class of 2020 Alumnae Induction. Katherine was initially scheduled to receive her medal and address the students on March 18 during an all-school assembly. A new plan was needed after the school went into quarantine on March 13. The alumnae board invited Katherine to be a guest speaker at the 2020 induction ceremony on May 26.
Katherine delivered a reflection on one of the important symbols of our crest, THE STAR.
Highlights of her speech included:
- My four years at Regina provided me the academic tools to succeed at college, grad school, and my career. But Regina’s tools are much deeper and include an understanding of self and investing in one another.
- The faculty and staff were excellent role models. I remember them always being available and spending hours answering my millions of questions. They helped me develop my passion for learning.
- I encourage you to view the world as your classroom and everyone you meet as a teacher.
Katherine is now pursuing a new career, which hopefully will take her to a job in Washington, D.C. We wish you all the best. You can read her full bio here:https://rdhs.org/katherine-kinnaird-08-young-alumna-medalist-2020/
