I am very excited to be serving Regina Dominican as the Leadership Institute Director. It has been my pleasure to begin working with the students, and to get to know the faculty and administration as part of the leadership team. I hope to get to know each and every one of you.
My passion lies in the areas of leadership and the development of girls and women as leaders. For over 20 years I have been working in the leadership arena, developing leadership curriculum and programs, conducting leadership assessments, designing feedback and coaching systems, and measuring the impact and quality of programs. My publications include articles in Diversity MBA Magazine about leadership competencies.
As you know, the Leadership Institute is grounded in Veritas (truth) and Caritas (compassion and love). Within the model lies four pillars of learning: a) Authentic Self-Confidence, b) Joyful Learning, c) Global Citizenship and d) Compelling Communication. Each pillar has a set of competencies that we strive to teach our students.
Regina Dominican and its Leadership Institute offer a unique resource to their students, parents and the community. We are the only single-gender Catholic high school in Illinois to offer a Leadership Institute to students.
Part of my role will be to showcase the value of Regina Dominican to its students, parents and the community. This will be accomplished through community outreach, marketing and publicity, and by developing partnerships with corporate and community leaders, alumnae, higher education institutions and other leaders.
Based on our culture of continuous improvement, our focus will be reviewing the key components of the program and developing the newer initiatives, including the RISE program.
This year, my goals are:
1) expand and improve the Leadership Institute to provide more experiences of value to all students
2) talk with students to gain insight and knowledge regarding their needs
3) listen to parents, faculty, administrators, staff, and community leaders to gain their perspective. Feedback will be used to further develop the Institute and its curriculum.
Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.
With warm regards,
Linda A. Liang, Ph.D
